Cops Warn of Strong-Arm Robbery Pattern in Lake View
In both incidents, the robber approached the victim from behind, cops say.

Chicago police issued a community alert warning residents of two strong arm robberies that recently occurred in Lake View.
The robberies happened on Nov. 16 and Nov. 21. In both incidents, police said the robber approached the victim from behind, taking a purse and a backpack.
Dist. 19 police said the first robbery happened in the 900 block of West Newport Street around 5:35 p.m. Nov. 16.

The second robbery took place in the 3600 block of North Fremont Avenue around 1:55 a.m. Nov. 21.
The offender in the earlier street robbery is described as a male black in his late twenties, between 6 feet and 6-feet-2-inches tall, 185-200 pounds with short hair and a black or dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The offender in last week’s robbery was wearing a White Sox baseball cap in the later robbery. He, too, is described as black, mid-twenties, around 6-feet-two-inches tall, 190 pounds, with short hair. In addition to the Sox hat, the robber was wearing a black wool jacket and jeans.
The victim in the second robbery told police the man ran to a dark blue, 4-door sedan, possibly a Chevy Malibu, in the alley south of Waveland.
