Shooter Identified and Arrested in Wrigleyville Shootout: Cops

A 19-year-old Evanston man has been charged with one felony count of aggravated discharge of a weapon, police said.

An Evanston man was identified as one of the shooters in Sunday’s shootout in Wrigleyville, police said.

Ralph Banks, 19, of the 2000 block of West Darrow, Evanston, was charged with one felony count of aggravated discharge of a weapon.

Police responded to the 1100 block of West Patterson Avenue, a block west of Wrigley Field, around3:05 a.m. after officers heard gunfire.

Officers discharged their weapons, but missed, as two armed men came running toward them. Over 80 shots were fired by two groups of people who were reportedly fighting each other.

Banks was pursued by the responding officers and arrested without incident, police said.

Also recovered at the scene was a loaded .40 caliber handgun, according to a police news release.

Banks is due in bond court at the Leighton Criminal Court Building at 26th and California later Monday.
