Hawthorn Woods named Safest Municipality in Illinois

Out of 298 cities, Hawthorn Woods was recently named the number one safest place in Illinois by Value Penguin, a national research analysis firm. This follows Movoto Blog naming Hawthorn Woods in their top ten list of safest cities in Illinois in February of 2014. Value Penguin analyzed the most recent FBI crime report for cities, towns, and villages in Illinois to develop this list. Hawthorn Woods reported an impressively low crime score of just 60 in 2013. “This is another reason why Hawthorn Woods is a great place to live. Our citizens take pride in their community and make it a desirable place to live, work, and invest in their leisure time. We are proud of this distinction and thank our residents, as well as our public safety officials, for their investment of excellence in our home town,” stated Joseph Mancino, Mayor of Hawthorn Woods. Other places on the list include Lindenhurst, Lake in the Hills, and Spring Grove. According to the study, villages, not cities, towns, or the like, proved to be the safest. The top five safest places in Illinois all have a population less than 15,000.
