Comparing Illinois' Taxpayer Burden and outbound migration in 2014 to our neighbor states.

Truth in Accounting’s 2014 financial analysis of Illinois is out, and for the fourth consecutive year, the “Taxpayer Burden” in Illinois ranks second-highest in the nation, increasing from $43,400 in 2013.
The government financial watchdog’s Taxpayer Burden measurement calculates the approximate amount of money required of each taxpayer to pay the state’s total debt, which includes liabilities you won’t find on Illinois’ balance sheet.
Using TIA’s new data, we looked at how Illinois’ Taxpayer Burden compares to six of our closest neighbor states and the trend from 2009-2014. We also used information from United Van Lines to track domestic outbound move statistics in Illinois and these six states during the same time period.
