Lake Zurich Man Arrested on Reproducing Child Porn Charges

The 23-year-old Lake Zurich man is expected to make a court appearance Friday morning.

A 23-year-old Lake Zurich man faces child pornography charges following a search of his home early Thursday morning.

Johnathon C. Crouter, of Pine Avenue in Lake Zurich, was arrested and charged with ten counts of reproducing child pornography, a Class X felony, after authorities executed the search warrant and seized multiple electronic devices, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Police said forensic examination of the media devices revealed hundreds of videos identified as child pornography involving children under the age of 13.

“ It was also determined during the investigation that Crouter reproduced several videos containing child pornography,” according to the news release.

The offense of reproducing child pornography occurs when an image containing child pornography is duplicated, distributed and stored on other electronic media devices, according to police.

The charge carries a possible sentence of 6 to 30 years in prison.

The case remains under investigation. Crouter is expected to appear in court Friday morning for a bond hearing.
