The Stephen Siller Foundation was created by the family of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who lost his life as a result of the 9/11 attacks in New York City. FF Siller had gotten off duty that morning and was headed home when the attacks happened. He grabbed his gear, got in his truck and headed back to Manhattan. Upon reaching the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, it was already closed to motor vehicle traffic. He grabbed his fire gear and ran through the tunnel to the World Trade Center (about 3 miles) and perished along with 411 other NYC first responders
On September 11, 2001 our country lost over 3000 civilians and First Responders. We should never forget that day and we continue to honor and remember them with events like this 5K Run and Walk.
