Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center to Host 3rd Annual 5K to End Sexual Violence

Join Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center in saying “NOT IF I CAN HELP IT” at the 3rd Annual Race to Zero 5K Run/Walk to end sexual violence at 9AM on Sunday, April 26th at Independence Grove in Libertyville. This event celebrates and concludes the national observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and is an opportunity for the public to come together to raise awareness and create a community of zero tolerance for sexual violence!

ZCenter is committed to providing a place where survivors of sexual assault and abuse can heal and mobilize the community toward action to end sexual violence. Located in Gurnee, ZCenter is Lake County’s only rape crisis center and provides free comprehensive, professional support to assist survivors in the healing process, as well as education programs to prevent children and adults from suffering sexual abuse and assault. By participating as an individual or forming a team, runners can help raise funds for critical client services-including counseling, legal/medical advocacy and 24-hour support line programs.

Registration starts at 8 AM and the race begins at 9 AM sharp, rain or shine. Registration for adults 13 and older is $25 and $15 for kids 12 and younger. Participants are encouraged to form teams and there is a $5 discount for each member of a team with 10 or more members. Runners can fundraise either with their pledge form or online using the fundraising page that will be created when registering online as a fundraiser. All runners will receive a race t-shirt and race bag. This event also includes refreshments, entertainment, and post-race festivities complete with BBQ, live music, kids’ games and activities, prizes for top fund raisers and more!
