78 Cases Of Coronavirus Reported In Lemont Area: IDPH
Over the past week, the number of Lemont's positive coronavirus cases increased by nine.
LEMONT, IL — The number of Lemont's coronavirus cases increased by nine cases over the past week, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Lemont (ZIP code 60439) has 78 cases as of May 22, compared to 69 cases on May 15, which represents a 13 percent increase.
Lemont does have two nursing home facilities which have reported cases, which could contribute to the total case count for the village. Franciscan Village has reported four cases total, as well as one death. Lemont Center has also reported five deaths and nine cases at its facility as of May 15.
Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox reported a slight increase of coronavirus inpatients at the hospital when compared to last week, according to data provided to Patch. As of Thursday, the hospital told Patch it has 33 patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus and 12 persons under investigation.

Lemont also continues to request revisions to the Restore Illinois plan. Mayor John Egofske said Lemont will continue to work with local mayors and is requesting three revisions to the Restore Illinois Plan, including: suburbs in all collar counties should not be in the same region as Chicago, safely reduce the requirements to move from one phase to the next, provide specific safety precautions and measures for the most vulnerable aging population.

IDPH is also reporting a total of 838 tests have been performed for ZIP code 60439. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, there have also been five coronavirus related deaths in Lemont since March 16. The deaths included one woman in her 50s, one woman in her 60s, one woman in her 70s, one man in his 60s, and one man in his 70s. There is no available information regarding the number of patients who have recovered per town.
As of Friday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was 105,444 and the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 4,715 Illinois residents. The state is reporting those recovered at 19,725. In suburban Cook County, there are 26,475 cases of the coronavirus and 1,134 related deaths.
