LEMONT, IL — Three Stories Books will hold Kids on Canal from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday on Canal Street in downtown Lemont. The event will feature local author visits, a kindness craft tent where you can make a craft for an essential worker, family yoga, local vendors, live music, chalk art, food and treats, a community art installation and more.

Three Stories Books owner Sommer Steele, who also owns Mabel's Market, said the idea for Kids on Canal came after the Market on Canal on June 6. Mabel's Market hosts the Market on Canal event twice a year.

"I started talking with my vendors and brainstorming an event for the space between Market on Canal and Fall on Canal," Steele said. "I was thinking we need something for kids and that Three Stories could take the lead on."

Three Stories Books opened in April in downtown Lemont, at 310 Canal St., and Steele said the business is still trying to get the word out that they are open.

Steele said she imagined the event as something community-oriented and that was "fun for the family but felt easy."
