Revival of Keepataw Parade Set for September

But first, the group organizing the parade's return needs your help.

The Lemont Fireman’s Association is fighting to bring back a Lemont favorite, after the 65-year tradition of the Keepataw Days parade and festival came to an end last August.

This year’s Lemont Keepataw Parade will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. in downtown Lemont. A group of community members and the Lemont Fireman’s Association have joined together to re-establish the parade, but to be successful in their endeavors, help and financial support will be needed. A ‘Project Lemont’ group last week held a pub crawl as a fundraiser for the parade.

“With the generous support of residents and local businesses, the committee believes that they can restore the parade to its original format spotlighting local organizations, bands, businesses, floats and municipal agencies,” the association said in a release.

Funds are needed to help cover the cost of holding the parade, which includes insurance, Police Department and Public Works support, participating bands and special parade entries. There will be numerous ways to help and provide financial support.
