Tombstone 5K, Trunk Or Treat: Fall Events In South, Southwest Suburbs
Check out some spooky, festive events planned this month.
ILLINOIS — Fall is in full swing, and that means that seasonal events, like a 5K through a cemetery and outdoor showings of Halloween movies, are happening across the area.

Tombstone 5k Features Run Through Mount Greenwood Cemetery
Are you and your family looking for a creative way to kick off your Halloween? Running Excels is bringing back the Tombstone 5K this Saturday, Oct. 15, starting at 8:30 a.m. The family-friendly run and walk runs through Mount Greenwood Cemetery.

The Forge: Lemont Quarries Celebrates Halloween
The celebration will begin at 2 p.m. on Oct. 15, Oct. 16, Oct. 29 and Oct. 30. Costumes are encouraged; and the events will feature hayrides through the quarries every 30 minutes, ghost stories in the forest at 2:30 and 3:45 p.m., scavenger hunts, a costume contest and dance party at 5:30 p.m., and Halloween movie nights beginning at 6 p.m.
Trunk Or Treat Planned At Heritage Park
The event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Heritage Park, 14240 W. 151st St., in Homer Glen. Families can drop by for a free afternoon of trick-or-treating in candy-filled, decorated vehicle trunks.
Still Time Left To Register For Moraine Valley Halloween 5K, Kids Dash
There’s still time left to register for Moraine Valley Community College’s Halloween 5K Run/Walk and Kid’s Dash on Saturday, Oct. 29.The 5K starts at 9 a.m., at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.
Trunk Or Treat At White Oak Library In Romeoville
The White Oak Library-Romeoville Branch will hold its Halloween Haunted House and trunk or treat on Oct. 27 at the library, 201 W. Normantown Road. Costumes are encouraged, and there will be games, crafts and treats.
