Train Hits Semi-Truck In Lemont

LEMONT, IL — A Metra train hit a semi-truck in Lemont on Friday afternoon, according to Metra's Heritage Corridor line Twitter.

Metra said on its Twitter that Train 915, which was scheduled to arrive in Joliet at 4:31 p.m. Friday, struck the semi-truck in Lemont. The accident happened at a private railroad crossing at Boyer Street near Main Street.

Extensive delays were anticipated, Metra said. A new train arrived to bring passengers on to Joliet, according to Metra.

Patch has reached out to Lemont Police and Cook County Sheriff's Office for more information. There was no immediate information on any reported injuries.

In 2019, a man was killed after his vehicle was struck by an Amtrak train at the railroad tracks on Boyer Street. The man was part of a survey crew working in the area.
