Woodridge Teen Charged After Jumping Off Lemont Bridge: Cops

A Woodridge teen has been charged with disorderly conduct after jumping off a bridge in Lemont on Thursday.

LEMONT, IL — A Woodridge teen has been charged with disorderly conduct after jumping off a bridge in Lemont on Thursday, prompting a frantic search by first responders. Police said they first responded to a call of a man who jumped off the Lemont Road bridge at 2 p.m. Officers couldn't locate the man and requested the assistance of the Lemont Fire Department for possible water rescue/recovery from the Chicago Ship and Sanitary Canal.

Several area fire departments responded to the scene and conducted a rescue operation, according to police. During the investigation it was learned that the jumper, Michael Biancofiori, 18, had exited the canal after jumping from the bridge and left the area.

Lemont detectives were able to locate Biancofiori, and he was charged with one count of disorderly conduct. Biancofiori posted bond and was issued an Oct. 1 court date at the Bridgeview Court House.
