Alleged Shooter In Deadly Ambush Had History Of Violence: Court Records

The Lake County man accused of fatally shooting the founder of a suburban company also is accused of violently attacking a woman in 2023.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Zion man accused of carrying out a deadly ambush outside a Wisconsin home also has a history of violent allegations, including a Lake County domestic violence case in which prosecutors say he choked a woman and prevented her from leaving an apartment with a young child.

Kamryn G. Harris, 23, is charged in Kenosha County with first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the Nov. 21, 2025, shooting that killed Christian Davis, 47, a Lombard-based trucking company co-founder.

Authorities in the Kenosha homicide case have said the shooting appeared to be targeted, though investigators have not publicly released a motive. Harris is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Kenosha County Circuit Court next week.

The Kenosha case is not the first time Harris has faced allegations of violence. In October 2023, he is accused of attacking a woman in her Zion apartment and choking her.

According to court filings, the woman told police Harris would not let her leave her apartment, forcing her to escape by climbing out of a window with her nearly 2-year-old daughter and running to a nearby apartment.

Kenosha Ambush

Authorities allege Harris waited outside a home before opening fire on three people — one of which was Davis — on Nov. 21, 2025.

According to a criminal complaint in the Wisconsin case, surveillance video shows Harris crouched near a Dodge Durango outside the home prior to the shooting. Davis was struck by gunfire and collapsed near the back door of the residence.

Davis, a father of two and co-founder of Lombard-based Trifecta Transport, was pronounced dead after officers attempted CPR, according to authorities.

Investigators said one of the other victims suffered a cut near his eye but was not hit by gunfire. Multiple bullet holes were found in the driver’s side of the Durango, and authorities believe one of the victims was attempting to get into the driver’s seat when the shooting began, according to court records.

Surveillance footage also allegedly shows Harris arriving at the home in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee that had previously been reported stolen from Waukegan. Investigators say the video captured him walking up the driveway shortly before the shooting, according to court records.

If convicted on the homicide charge, Harris faces a mandatory life sentence, according to the complaint, which also includes penalty enhancers alleging he used a dangerous weapon and has a prior felony conviction.

Past Criminal History

Separate court filings in Lake County outline earlier allegations of violence involving Harris.

In one case, police were called to the woman's apartment in Zion on Oct. 31, 2023, after she reported Harris accused her of talking to other men before allegedly choking her and making it difficult for her to breathe, according to court records obtained by Patch.

Prosecutors say Harris also struck the woman in the face when she attempted to get away and later grabbed her phone and shattered it when she tried to call police. Officers who spoke with the victim reported seeing abrasions and redness on her neck and shoulder, according to court documents.

Harris pleaded guilty to the criminal damage charge in the case and was ordered to pay fines and court fees.

Prosecutors also cited Harris’ criminal history, which includes a felony fleeing and eluding conviction in Wisconsin and a misdemeanor conviction for carrying a concealed weapon. At the time of the domestic battery case, Harris also had other pending criminal charges in Lake County, including aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and criminal trespass to a residence.
