Libertyville Shells Out $17K For July 4th Fireworks

The Libertyville Mile of Cars along with the village of Libertyville covers the cost.

The village of Libertyville, together with the cooperation of the Libertyville Mile of Cars, will once again host a fireworks display this Fourth of July. The Libertyville Mile of Cars, an association comprised of the Village’s thirteen local dealerships, will cover a portion of the cost of the fireworks. The village of Libertyville sponsors the remaining balance of the $17,500 total cost, according to a news release.

The Independence Day fireworks display is set for dusk on July 4th (approximately 9:30 p.m.). The viewing area is in Butler Lake Park. Preceding the fireworks will be a performance of patriotic tunes by the Libertyville Band at 7:30 p.m. in the Butler Lake Bandshell. Butler Lake is located along Lake Street, approximately a half mile west of Milwaukee Avenue.

For safety reasons, Lake Street will close to pedestrians and vehicle traffic at 9 p.m. before the show. Parking will be available at Butler Lake Park (residents only), the main commuter lot, both the Lake Street and Church Street parking garages, and Butterfield School.

According to Libertyville Mayor, Terry L. Weppler, “Events in Libertyville happen because of the generous
support of local businesses and organizations. That’s why it’s so important to shop locally.”

When area residents buy a vehicle on the Libertyville Mile of Cars, not only do the taxes paid help offset village services such as fire and police personnel, and parks and street maintenance, but jobs are created and
community and school programs, sporting events, and other functions are supported.
