• Fundraiser Launched For Mom Who Died Saving Son In River (patch.com) — Libertyville-area residents are rallying around the family of Angelina "Angie" Khalimendik, a 31-year-old Hinsdale mother who drowned after rescuing her son in the Des Plaines River near Independence Grove Forest Preserve. A GoFundMe has been launched to help cover her funeral and burial expenses and to establish a trust for her three young children, honoring her remembered kindness and selflessness. 
• Libertyville District 70 Says No Cellphone Policy Changes Are Needed (patch.com) — Libertyville School District 70 will keep its current cellphone rules for the 2026-27 school year, saying they already meet Illinois' new limits on student device use. Students must keep phones and smartwatches off and in lockers, with only narrow exceptions for emergencies, approved educational use, or accommodations. No school board discussions or changes are planned before the state's implementation deadline.
