• Hike 7 Lake County Trails, Earn A Prize This Fall (patch.com) — Lake County residents are invited to complete seven of twelve designated forest preserve hikes by Nov. 30 to earn a commemorative medallion or tag, with dogs eligible for their own collar tags. One of the featured routes is the 1.5-mile trail at Independence Grove in Libertyville, tying into a countywide historical theme for America's 250th anniversary. Participants log their hikes and can submit entries online, by mail, or in person.
