Police Release Body-Cam Video In Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting
The Mundelein Police Department released video footage, 911 audio from the mental health call that led to the fatal shooting
Newly released body-worn camera footage and 911 recordings show the moments leading up to a fatal officer-involved shooting in Mundelein on May 11.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman who was killed in the shooting as 37-year-old Mary Alice Love of Mundelein.
Officers were dispatched around 5:57 p.m. to a home in the 1100 block of Ashbrook Drive after receiving reports of a suicidal woman who allegedly told family members she wanted police to kill her, said Mundelein Police Chief Jason Seeley. During a 911 call, the woman's mother told dispatchers her daughter wanted officers to "kill her" because she did not want to live.

According to police, the woman stood up, picked up the knives and approached a sliding glass door leading into the home where officers and a family member were located.
As she entered the residence while armed with the knives, an officer fired his weapon, striking her. She was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy by the Lake County Coroner’s Office determined Love died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Lake County Major Crime Task Force is conducting an independent investigation in coordination with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office. The officer involved, an 18-year veteran of the department and patrol sergeant, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
In a statement accompanying the release of the footage, Seeley said the department recognizes the incident has affected everyone involved and raised questions within the community. He said releasing the body-camera footage, 911 audio and additional information reflects the department's commitment to transparency and keeping the public informed as the investigation continues.
Seeley also said department officials met privately with the woman's family before the public release, giving them an opportunity to view the video and ask questions about the incident and investigative process.
"This remains an active and ongoing investigation being conducted independently by the Lake County Major Crime Task Force in coordination with the Lake County State's Attorney's Office," Seeley said. "We ask the public to allow investigators the time and space necessary to complete a thorough and independent review of the facts."
