Lisle, IL – As the winter progresses, the work on Lisle Park District’s first, all-inclusive playground continues thanks to the generosity of the community.

The park district broke ground on the fully accessible Discovery Playground in September of 2019. With generous donations from The Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation, local businesses, and individual community members, along with the impact fees from the Marquette development in Downtown Lisle, funds raised to cover cost of construction and equipment, have almost met the goal of $550,000.

Despite the unpredictable winter weather, construction at the site in Community Park (1825 Short St., Lisle) has been moving forward, with poured concrete and main structure beams in place. Parks staff has been able to continue working on the construction in part thanks to an in-kind donation of equipment necessary for playground installation from West Side Tractor Sales Co., a local company that will soon be moving into their new flagship headquarters on Ogden Avenue in Lisle.

In addition, with the help of playground partners Unlimited Play, the park district has also received a grant from The Home Depot Foundation. Thanks to the grant, Team Depot will be installing the aluminum fencing around the perimeter of the playground early this spring.

Completing this project would not be possible without the great businesses, foundations, and individuals that have contributed to Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation’s Discovery Playground Fundraiser. Thanks to Arboretum Wealth and Trust Management, Duke Energy, Lisle Community Service Corporation, Rotary Club of Lisle, Bank Financial, DuPage Medical Group, Lisle Eyes to the Skies Festival, Mainstreet Organization of Realtors, Signature Design Group, Inc., Dover Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Lisle, Lisle Lions Club, PiperJaffray, and more. The full list of donor, including individuals and families, along with more information about the project, can be found online at lisleparkdistrict.org/discoveryplayground.
