Coroner IDs Man Fatally Shot by Police During Attempted Home Break-In
Anthony Aguilar, 35, of Lisle, died of a single gunshot wound while police said he attempted to break into a home in Lisle early Saturday.

The DuPage County Coroner’s Office has identified the 35-year-old man shot and killed by police during an attempted home break-in in Lisle early Saturday as Anthony Aguilar.
Aguilar, of Lisle, died of a single gunshot wound to the right portion of his lower chest, according to a preliminary results from an autopsy released Sunday afternoon by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office. Toxicology reports are pending in the death.
The shooting occurred after officers responded to a 911 call of someone trying to break into a single-family residence in the 4400 block of Yender Avenue, police said. The 59-year-old woman who lived alone in the house called 911 to say she was awakened by loud, heavy footsteps on her front porch. Then someone began to violently kick her front door, attempting to break it down, police said.

The alleged intruder moved to the back of the house where he began kicking the rear door. The woman barricaded herself in the bathroom and waited for police.
Preliminary information indicates that two officers arrived at the home around 5:16 a.m., where they made contact with Aguilar, who was armed with a weapon, police said. Police said an officer deployed his Taser with no effect. Aguilar was ultimately shot by the other officer. The 59-year-old woman was unharmed.

Aguilar was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he later died from his injuries.
Three Lisle police officers were treated at Edward Hospital in Naperville and later released. Police did not say why the officers were receiving medical attention.
The Illinois State Police, DuPage County Coroner, DuPage County Forensic Investigation Unit and DuPage County State’s Attorney are investigating the police-involved shooting.
