Lisle Police Shoot and Kill Alleged Home Intruder
Officers were responding to call of man breaking into woman's home early Saturday morning, police say.

A Lisle police officer shot and killed a 35-year-old man as he tried to break into a home early Saturday morning, a police news release said.
Police said that officers responded to a 911 call of someone trying to break in a single-family residence in the 4400 block of Yender Avenue.
The 59-year-old woman who lives alone in the house called 911 to say she was awakened by loud, heavy footsteps on her front porch. Then someone began to violently kick her front door attempting to break it down, police said.

The alleged intruder moved to the back of the house where he began kicking the rear door. The woman barricaded herself in the bathroom and waited for police.
Preliminary information indicates that two officers arrived at the home around 5:16 a.m., where they made contact with a man armed with a weapon, police said.

Police said an officer deployed his Taser with no effect. The man was ultimately shot by the other officer. The 59-year-old woman was unharmed.
The man was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he later died from his injuries.
Three Lisle police officers were treated at Edward Hospital in Naperville and later released. Police did not say why the officers were receiving medical attention.
The name of the 35-year-old man is not being released until family members can be contacted.
The Illinois State Police, DuPage County Coroner and DuPage County State’s Attorney are investigating the police-involved shooting.
