October To Bring Fall Fun, Frights, More To Morton Aboretum
Morton Arboretum's October offerings will feature the return of the glass pumpkin patch, along with a cider fest, a scarecrow trail and more

LISLE, IL — Morton Arboretum has planned a variety of events to celebrate the advent of autumn and the horrors of Halloween in 2021. The festivities include the much-anticipated return of the glass pumpkin sale, a cider and ale fest, a scarecrow display and more, starting Oct. 1.
Scarecrow Trail
Starting Oct. 1, Morton Arboretum guests can see dozens of custom-made scarecrows along the path near Meadow Lake and vote for their favorite. The scarecrows, which were made by local Scout troops, will be on display throughout October.

Arbor Court Fall Fest
Arboretum guests can satisfy their cravings for fall with taffy apples and donuts when they stop by Arbor Court on weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or on Monday, Oct. 11. Arbor Court's Fall Fest runs Oct. 2 through Oct. 31.

Glass Pumpkin Patch
In 2020, Morton Arboretum's beloved Glass Pumpkin Patch switched to a virtual format due to coronavirus. Arboretum visitors can see live glassblowing demonstrations daily from Oct. 13 through Oct. 17. The Glass Pumpkin Patch will dazzle with thousands of artisanal glass pumpkins Oct. 13 through Oct. 15. Pumpkins will be available for purchase from Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. through Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.
Cider and Ale Festival
Craft cider, mead and beer will be on tap at tasting booths in the arboretum on Oct. 23 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for the Morton Arboretum Cider and Ale Festival. More than 60 samples will be available from over 30 vendors.
General admission to the Cider and Ale Festival is $55 for arboretum members and $65 for guests and gets you 20 three-ounce samples and a souvenir tasting glass. VIP early admission is $65 for arboretum members and $75 for guests and includes 20 three-ounce samples and a souvenir tasting glass, early festival entry at 12 p.m., a welcome drink and access to a private restroom area.

In addition to these fall festivities, the Morton Arboretum will also offer:
- Fall Color 5K Run and Walk Oct. 2
- 1.5-hour long tram tours of Human + Nature exhibit throughout October
- Performance of A Haunting in Sherwood Forest on Oct. 31 at 4 p.m.
As of Sept. 27, face masks are required indoors at Morton Arboretum and timed-entry passes must be reserved in advance.
