Veterans Day Observance Planned For Nov. 13 In Lisle

Residents are invited to the Lisle Veterans Memorial on Nov. 13 for an observance that includes music, remarks and more to honor veterans.

LISLE, IL — Residents are invited to Lisle Veterans Memorial on Nov. 13 for a Veterans Day Observance that includes live patriotic music, remarks from local officials and more to honor local veterans.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and the lineup is as follows:

  • Medley of patriotic music by Lisle Community Band
  • Color Guard performs posting of colors
  • Performance of National Anthem
  • Invocation by chaplain from DuPage AME Church
  • Lisle Community Band plays medley to salute branches of service
  • Remarks from local dignitaries
  • Performance of God Bless America
  • Retiring of colors
  • Closing comments

Remarks will be made by Lisle Mayor Christopher Pecak, Lisle Park District Board President Kari Altpeter, VFW Post Commander Don Smith and Reverend Tracey Kenney from DuPage AME Church, Lisle Park District Director of Parks and Recreation Dan Garvy told Patch.

Lisle's 2022 Veterans Day Observance will be presented by Lisle VFW Post #5696, Lisle Park District and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District. The Lisle Veterans Memorial is located at The Museums at Lisle Station Park, 4121 Center Ave.

Garvy said, "This event is important to Lisle like events just like it should be for every community – to honor and pay our deepest appreciation to all those who have served in the armed forces."

He added, "[T]his is an opportunity for everyone to take some time to reflect upon all that everyone who lives and spends time in the United States enjoys and likely takes for granted, but for which countless individuals and families have willfully fought to defend, knowing they may pay the ultimate price. The sacrifices made by those who served and the sacrifices made by their families are significant, and they deserve the utmost attention and respect."
