Manhattan Community Garden Ready To Grow For Residents
In its second year, the garden has 12 plots available to residents on a first-come, first-serve basis.
MANHATTAN, IL.— Back for its second year, the ground at the Manhattan Community Garden is ready to be tilled and planted.
Established by Ron Adamski and Erin McDonough, the garden's 12 plots at 520 W. North St. are doled out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Gardeners in the first year planted mostly vegetables, said Mayor Mike Adrieansen.
Village officials installed watering barrels to collect rainwater to water plants, he added.

Plot applications are available on the Village website. They must be printed out and turned in at Village Hall, 260 Market Pl. Applications will be time-stamped at submission, with plots assigned in order.
Adrieansen said the Village counts on people to pick from only what they grow.
