MOKENA, IL — As the coronavirus pandemic creates tough times for most, every business and organization is also facing challenges, and the NAWS Humane Society of Illinois in Mokena is no exception. According to its GoFundMe page, the society is in danger of closing permanently and there are still several animals available for adoption.

This week's adoptable pet is Tippy, a 1-and-a-half-year old female dilute tortoiseshell cat. Tippy was relinquished by her previous owner through no fault of her own, the shelter said.

Tippy is currently in a foster home, and her caregivers said she is a sweetheart. The society said Tippy will throw herself on the ground to have her belly pet, and she enjoys cuddling and being a lap cat, as well as playing with toys.
