Mokena Approves Resolution Allowing Cocktail Carry-Out, Delivery

The new law applies to class D and class E restaurant liquor licenses in Mokena.

MOKENA, IL — At its June 8 meeting, the Mokena board of trustees approved a resolution which will allow for the sale of carry-out or delivery of cocktails and mixed drinks. The legislation became law at the state level on June 2, and now the village also approved its own resolution.

The new law applies to class D and class E restaurant liquor licenses in Mokena.

According to board documents, there are several restrictions to the new law, including tamper-evident and sealed containers for cocktails and mixed drinks, drinks should be placed in the trunk or rear area of the car for transport, and drinks can only be delivered by an employee of the restaurant. If an employee cannot verify a customer's age or level of intoxication, the sale must be canceled, board documents state.

The resolution will expire in one year on June 2, 2021.
