Mokena Sees Positivity Rate Of 6.4 Percent

Will County's overall positivity rate has now risen to 9 percent as of Friday.

MOKENA, IL — For the week of Aug. 31, Mokena saw a positivity rate of 6.4 percent. The town's positivity rating is much lower than Will County's overall positivity rate, which has now risen to 9 percent as of Friday.

Here are the top 10 towns with the highest positivity rates in Will County:

  • Joliet, 10.3 percent
  • University Park, 10.3 percent
  • Romeoville, 8.1 percent
  • Crete, 7.9 percent
  • Crest Hill, 7.9 percent
  • Homer Glen, 7.9 percent
  • Lockport, 7.8 percent
  • Steger, 6.7 percent
  • Bolingbrook, 6.6 percent
  • Monee, 6.5 percent

Over the past week, the health department said Mokena saw seven new cases. The town which had the highest amount of cases was Joliet, which reported 144.

As of Sept. 3, the county had 11,778 total cases and 362 deaths. 31 deaths have occurred in the past 42 days, and there have been 4,187 live cases of the coronavirus within 42 days.

The largest amount of coronavirus deaths in Will County for both males and females have occurred in the 80s age range. According to the health department, 59 females in their 80s and 53 males in their 80s have died.

However, the age range with the most amount of cases is the 20s, followed by 40s, 50s and 30s.
