Argo Resigns as Village Clerk, Replacement Sought
After one month in the position, returning Village Clerk Barbara Argo has stepped down, and Village President Marilyn Michelini is looking for someone to fill out the rest of her term.

The search is on again for a new Montgomery village clerk.
Just one month after returning to the position, Barbara Argo has decided to step down for health reasons, according to Village President Marilyn Michelini. Which means the position is once again vacant, and Michelini is looking for a replacement.
Argo’s latest stint as clerk was her third. She was first elected to the position in 1998, and served until 2004, when she stepped down to return to school. She ran again and was elected in 2006, but last March, when time commitments at her full-time job at Caterpillar became too great.

Michelini Carla Cooper to fill out the remainder of Argo’s term last February, but Cooper last month for the same reason–the demands of her full-time job had grown. Argo’s position at Caterpillar had since been eliminated. She had decided to retire, and jumped at the chance to serve as clerk once again.
With Argo’s resignation, the remainder of her term—which expires in May of next year—will need to be filled. Michelini said she would first turn to those who applied for the position during the last two vacancies. Michelini will nominate a new clerk, who must then be approved by the Village Board.
