Charges Filed Against Men Who Pointed Gun at Police

The two men that were apprehended by officers after an armed encounter have been identified as 23-year-old Rene Muro of the 300 block of Beach St. and 20-year-old Erik Esparza of St. Charles.

Both Muro and Esparza were charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm by a gang member and resisting/obstructing a police officer.

Muro was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Muro’s bail was set at $500,000 ($50,000 bond) with his next court date set for July 15.

Esparza’s bail set at $200,000 ($20,000 bond) with his next court date set for July 23.

Both are currently being held in the Kane County Jail.
