Candidate questions

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?

After working a lot behind the scenes on some school issues of students and parents, I’m looking to collaborate and work with the students, current and new school board members, the district, community, city and state officials in an effort to ensure all children can and will learn and that no child is left behind. When it comes to decision making we should involve both the students' and the parents' input.

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?

Advocate and educate the parents on their much needed Parental involvement and helping both students and parents have a better understanding of District 131 policy, procedures and regulations .

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

To be honest I haven’t met all the candidates yet. However on March 3, 2011 I attended the Kishwaukee District Dinner (newcomers and current school board members) as the only East Aurora District 131 candidate, while the other school district were represented by several candidates both new and current members. I believe in “unity," after all we all have the same agenda... helping our children succeed.

How long have you lived in the school district?

I have lived in the district for 13 months in the Hometown Subdivision and off and on for the last 36 years.

What's your favorite thing about the school district?

The positive relationships East Aurora School District 131 students, peers, parents and staff have with outside establishments including neighboring school districts.

What is the biggest problem in the school district?

Academic scores, school budget and not enough teachers (per a school board meeting I previously attended).
