Jobs for youth at KYEP
"Our program can help youth get a job or, if they already have a job, get a better job," said Mark Leigh, Coordinator.
Kendall Youth Employment Program (KYEP) is a free program that provides jobs and training to youth who are 16 to 24 years old.
“We aim to help youth learn job search skills, gain on-the-job experience, and make some money,” said Mark Leigh, KYEP Coordinator.
If youth are not able to find a job on their own, youth can be placed in a job in which wages are paid by KYEP while they are trained at a local business or organization.

The program also helps high school dropouts prepare for the GED with one-on-one tutoring and online lessons. Youth in the program plan a path to desired careers while considering their aptitudes, educational requirements, and future wages.
To be eligible for the program, youth must live in Kendall, DeKalb, or Kane County. Dropouts, parenting youth, and youth on probation are eligible regardless of household income, but others may have to meet low income guidelines. The application process involves completing forms, interviewing, and academic testing.
