JUNIOR LEAGUE OF KANE & DUPAGE COUNTIES, INC. CALL FOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS FOR INNOVATING TEACHING APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

AURORA, Ill. (December 2, 2014) — In order to advance its mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities, the Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties, Inc. (JLKD) will award a minimum of two $1,000 scholarships to college-bound, female high school students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to voluntarism. The 100% female volunteer run organization will also award at least one $1,000 Grant for Innovative Teaching to a deserving local educator.

Scholarships
Voluntarism is an important part of a thriving community and it is more important than ever to support this spirit of giving and leadership. College-bound, graduating female high school seniors in DuPage, Kane, Kendall or Will Counties, who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to voluntarism are invited to apply. Applications are due January 15, 2015, and are available online at jlkd.org/projects/scholarships/.

Grants for Innovative Teaching
JLKD encourages and supports excellence in teaching by awarding grants for an innovative program or project that otherwise would not be provided for in the school budget to educators who present outstanding student programming. To qualify, the teacher or teaching group must be employed full- or part-time at any public or private school serving students in grades preschool through 12 in DuPage, Kane, Kendall or Will Counties of Illinois. Applications are due January 15, 2015, and are available online at jlkd.org/projects/grant-for-innovative-teaching/.
