Monday is Drug Take-Back Day

Locations to dispose of unwanted pills will be available throughout Illinois.

If you’ve got some pills around the house you’re not using, or if you’re sick of “holding” some for your friend, Monday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, an event promoting local prescription drug drop off centers that responsibly dispose of excess or expired medication.

“Easy access to prescription drugs can be a gateway to addiction for many young people,” said Illinois 11th District Congressman Bill Foster. “Making sure that these dangerous drugs stay out of the hands of our children should be a priority for every parent.”

Last year, Foster introduced the Opioid Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, aimed at preventing prescription drug abuse and providing treatment options for individuals struggling with addiction. More information on the bill can be found here.
