A Montgomery man will be spending the next seven years behind bars after police found images of child pornography on his computer, according to a release from the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Robert E. Crysel, 22, of 20 Sonora Drive, was convicted of possession of child pornography after entering a guilty plea earlier this month. Crysel was sentenced by Judge Timothy McCann.

Crysel was charged after members of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office visited his home in mid-December 2014 in order to verify his information regarding the requirements for the Sex Offender Registration Act. Detectives verified the Internet Protocol address from the computer in Crysel’s bedroom. Deputies later learned, through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, that known child pornography had been downloaded to that IP address. After confirming that the files downloaded contained child pornography, the investigators obtained a search warrant to search Crysel’s home and computer. The search warrant was executed on Dec. 30, 2014.
The desktop computer in Crysel’s bedroom contained 19 images and five videos which were viewed and found to contain child pornography. The images involved children under the age of 13 years of age involved in various acts of sexual activity. Crysel was interviewed by investigators and admitted that he had downloaded the images and videos found on his desktop computer via Frostwire software.

Crysel acknowledged that he used specific search terms such as “child porn,” “small girls,” “little girls” and “petite girls” to locate child pornography on the internet. The images and videos were then stored in computer folders. Crysel was indicted with multiple counts of possession of child pornography involving a child under thirteen years of age, all class 2 felonies.
State’s Attorney Eric Weis thanked the coordinated efforts of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in bringing this Defendant to justice.
“These cases are particularly difficult to investigate and prosecute due to the nature of these images,” Weis said in a release. “I commend those that are tasked with this specialized and important task.”
Crysel will have to serve three years to Natural Life of mandatory supervised release (parole) upon his release from the Department of Corrections and be required to register with the Illinois Sex Offender Registry for his lifetime.
