People Needed for Medina Flag Line

Cpl. Sara Medina will be flown back to Mexico and Project Patriotism is hoping to give her a proper send-off.

Phase three of the flag line for Cpl. Sara Medina has been finalized.

According to Project Patriotism’s Facebook page, people are needed for the flag line at 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 10 at Overman-Jones Funeral Home at 15219 Joliet Road in Plainfield.

This will be the last flag line for Cpl. Medina, who will be flown to Mexico for her final resting place.

Al Zuccarello of Project Patriotism said he hopes as many people come out as feasibly possible.

“If we could get the entire town to show up like we did on the way in that’d be great,” Zuccarello said.

People are encouraged to bring their own flags, but flags will be available for anyone that attends. Look for Paul Bicking from grillinforfreedom.us or Bob Richards from the American Legion Riders to get your flag.

“They’ll be handing out the flags,” Zuccarello said. “The only thing we ask is that everyone return them when they’re done.”

The flag line is expected to conclude at 6:30 a.m.

Medina was one of six marines killed in a May 12 helicopter crash while assisting with the earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.
