Quilts Solicited for Oswego's Annual PrairieFest Quilt Show

Quilting group invites area residents to submit family and contemporary quilts to be displayed June 19-20 at annual fest.

The Quilters Dozen Quilt Group and the Oswegoland Park District will again co-host thePrairieFest Quilt Show at Oswego’s historic Little White School Museum, June 19-21, during this year’s PrairieFest celebration. The museum is located at 72 Polk Street (Polk at Jackson), Oswego.

During the show, contemporary and antique quilts, hand and machine quilted, will be on display. Hours are Friday and Saturday, June 19-20, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 21, 12 noon until 4 p.m.

A certified quilt appraiser will be available to the public on Friday and Saturday.

The Quilters Dozen is seeking family quilts or quilts area residents have created that they would like to display during the show. Quilts for the show may be dropped off at the Little White School Museum on Wednesday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.Displayed quilts must be picked up on Sunday, June 21, after the quilt show closes, between 4:30 and 5 p.m.

Quilt show entry forms are available on the Oswegoland Park District website atwww.prairiefest.com, from Quilters Dozen members, and will also be available during quilt drop-off at the Little White School Museum on Wednesday, June 17.

The Quilters Dozen will also hold their annual quilt raffle during this year’s PrairieFest quilt show. This year’s quilt is entitled “Bear Country,” and is a traditional bear pattern PrairieFest quilt created with plaid material alternating with a companion fabric and surrounded by gold and brown bear print material. The back is muslin.

Quilt raffle donations is $1 per ticket or six tickets for $5. Raffle tickets are now available from quilt club members and at all Oswegoland Park District offices. Tickets for the raffle quilt will also be sold during the quilt show. The drawing will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 21. The winner need not be present to win.

Proceeds from the quilt raffle will benefit the Little White School Museum and the Oswegoland Park District’s PrairieFest celebration.
