Robb Hill Resigns from East Aurora School Board

The 46-year-old financial adviser handed in his resignation Friday, citing scheduling conflicts with his business. The school board will select a new member from applications collected through Aug. 4.

The East Aurora School Board now has two vacancies to fill.

Robert “Robb” Hill, who won his seat on the board in April, resigned Friday, citing work and family commitments. Hill, a financial advisor, speaker and author, said he is trying to build his business, and between that and his family, did not have the time needed to devote to the school board.

“I know a lot of people think it’s only two hours a week, but it isn’t,” Hill said. “I just was not able to devote the time to it without sacrificing somewhere else.”

Hill conveyed his “sincerest apology” to the voters of the district.

Hill, 46, is the author of the book Ask the Right Questions… Get the Right Answers, and he travels around the country as a speaker. He had missed several school board meetings since being elected, according to Board President Annette Johnson.

Hill’s seat will be filled at the same time, and by the same process, as the one recently vacated by community activist Mary Fultz. Fultz won her seat in the April elections as well, but the school board challenged her eligibility, citing records that showed she was not a registered voter at the time of the election, as required by state law.

A Kane County judge for the seat earlier this month, and the board this week.

Applicants will be solicited for Hill’s seat for 10 days, starting Monday, Johnson said. Candidates will have until Aug. 4 to hand in a resume. Applications are already being accepted for Fultz’ seat, and will be through July 29.

Applicants must be 18, a citizen of the United States, and have been a resident of the school district for at least one year prior to the election, according to state law. Board Attorney Bernard Weiler will review the applications received to make sure all criteria are met, Johnson said.

After that, the board will select two new members. They plan to announce their picks in the first week of September.
