What One Sister Did for the Other Will Make You Think About Sportsmanship

Good News: Claire Gruenke saw her sister Chloe crumple to the track during a race, but Chloe still crossed the finish line.

TRENTON, Illinois — A 13-year-old girl who felt something pop in her thigh before falling to the ground at a track meet still managed to cross the finish line thanks to her twin, who put the girl on her back and carried her.

Chloe and Claire Gruenke were both running in the 800-meter race at the Southern Illinois State Track Meet on Saturday when Chloe, a seventh-grader, fell on the second lap. Claire picked Chloe up and carried her for 370 meters.

The sisters finished last — but they finished.
