TRENTON, Illinois — A 13-year-old girl who felt something pop in her thigh before falling to the ground at a track meet still managed to cross the finish line thanks to her twin, who put the girl on her back and carried her.
Chloe and Claire Gruenke were both running in the 800-meter race at the Southern Illinois State Track Meet on Saturday when Chloe, a seventh-grader, fell on the second lap. Claire picked Chloe up and carried her for 370 meters.
The sisters finished last — but they finished.

"It's about showing compassion, love and sportsmanship, even if you lose and help somebody it’s still worth it," Claire told KTVI News, the local Fox affiliate. "The energy from the crowd made me stronger."
