Drug Dealers Charged in Overdose Death of Man, 20, Near Naperville: Police

Jacob Hagemen of West Chicago died of a heroin overdose at a home in unincorporated Naperville this past December.

WEST CHICAGO, IL - Drug-induced homicide charges have been filed against two drug dealers accused of providing the heroin that killed 20-year-old Jacob Hageman of West Chicago last December, authorities said.

Osvaldo S. Camaro, 22, and Carol M. Celozzi, 22, both of West Chicago, have been in custody since February when they were charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance in connection with Hageman’s death. Following an “extensive investigation,” both Camaro and Celozzi now face the additional drug-induced homicide charge, said DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Robert Harris in a Wednesday news release.

On Dec. 24, 2015, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Plank Road in unincorporated Naperville where they found Hageman who was unresponsive and later pronounced dead, police said. He died of a heroin overdose.

“With the help of Jacob’s family, investigators learned that Jacob may have purchased his heroin from a suspect in West Chicago,” Harris said. Hageman is a 2013 graduate of West Chicago High School.

This lead investigators to Camaro and Celozzi who they learned were selling heroin out of their home at 930 Gates Street in West Chicago, according to the news release. The duo was arrested in February on the unlawful delivery of a controlled substance charges and an extensive investigation followed leading to the charge of drug-induced homicide against Camaro and Celozzi, Harris said.

“My condolences go out to Jacob’s family for their loss.” said DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba said. “I applaud the efforts of my detectives and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office for their diligence and determination while pursuing this case.”

Both Camaro and Celozzi remain in custody on a $500,000 bond.

Zaruba said the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to tracking down and arresting drug dealers.

“My office is dedicating to stemming the tide of heroin and other illegal narcotics in DuPage County,” he said. “We will not back down when it comes to pursuing these criminals and their illegal dealing.”
