The next educational presentation in the Fort Hill Activity Center Wellness Series is “Osteoporosis,” given by Courtney Burland, Physician Assistant and Coordinator of the Fracture Liaison Service at DuPage Medical Group. The seminar is set for Wednesday, October 23 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Fort Hill Activity Center, located at 20 Fort Hill Drive in Naperville.Fort Hill Activity Center

Osteoporosis has been called the silent epidemic because it is widespread in both men and women over the age of 50 and it has no symptoms that can be felt until a bone has fractured. The speaker will address risk factors, screenings and treatment options including exercise, fall prevention, supplements and medications.

“Through our partnership with DuPage Medical Group, we are able to bring in medical professionals to discuss topics that we feel are relevant to our community,” said Fitness Manager Kristina McGrath. “Osteoporosis is something a lot of our Fort Hill fitness members mention to us as a health concern, and we are happy to provide them an opportunity to learn more about this topic.”
