Thursday evening, June 27, marks the opening night of SJC Fest 2013 at St. John of the Cross Church in Western Springs. The fun begins at 5:00 p.m. and runs to 10:30 p.m.
Thursday's live entertainment features Maggie Speaks as the headline group and The Swingers as the warm up band. The Swingers take the stage under the Big Tent at 6:00 p.m. Maggie Speaks follows from 7 - 10:00 pm.
Maggie Speaks changed the world of cover bands. With a repertoire that includes nearly every song on your iPod, you'll enjoy tunes you love played live on stage. Dance and sing to your favorites - from that 50's song you love to hear, to songs played at concerts you saw in the 80's as well as to Top 40 hits released last week.
The Swingers includes students from Lyons Township High School. The band has the honor of performing as Thursday evening's warm up by winning last week's Battle of the Bands sponsored by St. John's Youth Ministry Group.
Besides the live music, SJC Fest features carnival rides and games, great food from local restaurants, tasty baked goods and ice cream, and a beer garden. St. John's is at 51st & Wolf Road. Just look for the people having a great time!
