Naperville Plans for North Aurora Road Underpass Improvements, Other City Projects
City officials are in the process of planning its budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year.

City officials on Monday reviewed its capital improvement plan for the next five years, which calls for $60 million in funds for improvements for the 2015-16 fiscal year, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The Chicago Tribune reports that those improvements include:
- $32.35 million for engineering and construction work to improve the “aging Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway underpass on North Aurora Road.” Construction is slated to start in 2019.
- $435,000 for stretchers and powered cots for the city’s paramedics, which would help eliminate heavy lifting for responders in medical emergencies.
- $857,500, which would partially be used for technology to allow text messages to be translated to 911 calls.
- $1.7 million in Riverwalk projects, $344,000 for Naper Settlement and $2.4 million in improvements at the city’s three libraries.
The capital improvement plan has been discussed as part of the city’s annual budgeting process, according to the newspaper. The Naperville City Council is expected to vote on a resolution to fund the plan at an upcoming meeting.
