Naperville 'Salute' To Replace Ribfest July 4 Weekend

The two-day festival will feature live music, the Taste of Naperville, and the annual Fourth of July fireworks show.

NAPERVILLE, IL — It's official: Naperville Salute will replace Ribfest for the city's Fourth of July weekend festivities. The two-day festivities, set for July 3 and 4, will feature live music, the Taste of Naperville and the annual Fourth of July fireworks show.

The event, hosted by Naperville Responds to Veterans, will be held at Rotary Hill and at Naper Settlement, according to a recent news release.

The news comes after Naperville Ribfest announced in late 2020 that it would be relocating amid ongoing plans to revamp Knoch Park. As a result, Ribfest will be held in Romeoville in 2020.

In a statement, Warren Dixon III the event's co-chair said, "The Salute is our celebration of Independence Day, centered around those that have sacrificed the most – our veterans, active military, and first responders. This hometown, low cost, family-friendly celebration will focus on our Salute to them while celebrating our great nation with our friends and neighbors."

The Salute team says it is working with the City of Naperville, the Naperville Park District, and Naperville Community Unit School District 203 to "have a strategic footprint near downtown Naperville" and to make the "celebration an enjoyable experience for all Naperville residents."
