According to authorities, Machnikowski was angered over Lenks’ daughter insulting him at a party Monday night and attacked her parents as revenge. As of Wednesday, William Lenk was still at Edward Hospital in good condition. Mary Lenk was treated and released.
“No one should have to endure this type of vicious, unprovoked attack,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin stated in a press release. “People are entitled to the safety and security their home offers them. It is alleged that Mr. Machnikowski not only violated the sanctity of the couple’s home but once inside, attempted to murder the home’s occupants.”
