Plainfield Woman Charged For Faking Robbery
Naperville police are charging her with filing a false police report.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police charged a Plainfield woman with filing a false police report, in which she claimed to have been robbed of her wallet and wedding rings, police said in a press release.
Tara Arenz, 33, of the 5500 block of Hickory Grove Court in Plainfield, claimed that on Sept. 12, in a parking lot near Route 59 and 95th Street, two "darker men" came up from behind and robbed her at gunpoint in broad daylight.
Arenz told ABC7, "I felt something hard in my back and a voice saying, 'Give me your wallet and your wedding ring.'"

Arenz posted onto the Moms of Plainfield Facebook page that she was "beyond upset" about the robbery, adding that she was thankful her kids weren't there. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
She took to social media to warn others of the robbery in a now-deleted post.

However, the robbery seems to have been faked by Arenz. "The filing of [a] false police report is something we take very seriously," Police Chief Robert Marshall said in a press release. “This erroneous claim consumed a lot of department resources and caused a great deal of concern among members of our community, who feared for their safety as a result of the report. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated.”
Arenz is being charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, a Class 4 felony. Her bond is set at $250,000.
