Hundreds of Dollars Stolen From Coin Machines in Laundry Rooms of New Lenox Apartments: Cops

Crooks stole hundreds of dollars from coin machines in the laundry rooms of Heatherway Lane apartment buildings, police said.

Officers were sent to apartment buildings on Heatherway Lane near Shagbark Road twice within 10 minutes Thursday afternoon.

Both times, police said, the officers were told an “unknown person destroyed the coin dispensary units.”

“A blunt object had been used to pry the steel boxes open,”police said of both coin-capers.

About $100 worth of coins was taken in each crime and the damage to the coin machines was estimated at $1,000 apiece, police said.

Detectives were to look into the matter.
