Joliet Man Comes At Cops With Assault Rifles, Gets Shot: Police
The Joliet man was in critical condition at Loyola University Medical Center, police said.

A Joliet man came at the cops with a couple assault rifles, got shot, and is now in critical condition at a Maywood hospital, police said.
The cops were sent to Rockwood Drive in Neufairfield subdivision shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a domestic disturbance, police said.
“Upon arrival, officers were flagged down around the corner from the residence by a woman who indicated that she was the victim of a domestic violence incident,” police said. “She advised the officers that the offender was still inside the residence and that he was heavily armed. Officers approached the residence at which time they observed the offender emerge carrying two semi-automatic assault rifles.”

The man pointed a rifle at each of the officers “while commands were being given to drop the weapons,” police said.
“When the offender refused to (surrender), the officers fired, striking the offender multiple times,” police said. “The offender was subsequently taken into custody where additional weapons were recovered from his person. Emergency medical services were rendered at the scene and the offender was initially transported to Silver Cross Hospital, and subsequently airlifted to Loyola, where he is currently in critical condition.”
