Kevin Carter Leads New Lenox Police Blotter
But the defacement of New Lenox's Metra station was not the only criminal act in New Lenox of late.

NEW LENOX, IL - Your New Lenox Police Department has kept busy of late. Here's a look at several of the crimes they've been investigating over the past week.
MAY 7
The officer was dispatched to the area in reference to a truck on fire at Route 6 and Interstate 355. The officer spoke to the driver of the truck. The driver indicated that he got off of I-355 and smelled an odor of an electrical fire from the engine compartment. The truck became engulfed in flames and the NLFPD arrived on scene. The vehicle fire was extinguished without further incident.

The complainant advised that the contents of a package were stolen from their porch in the 200 block of Gum Street after being delivered to the home.
The complainant advised that two stop signs were knocked down at Kingston Drive and Gifford Place. New Lenox Public Works responded and put up temporary signs.

MAY 9
The officer was dispatched to Silver Cross Hospital in reference to an Aggravated Battery to a nurse. The complainant advised that the offender, Alicia Johnson-Medrano, 19, of Lockport, struck them several times and kicked them in the face while being treated at the hospital. Johnson-Medrano was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Officer were dispatched to the 200 block of York Place in reference to a Criminal Damage to Property complaint. The complainant advised that a male threw a rock at their window causing it to break, then fled from the area on foot.
The complainant advised that they hired a contractor they found online to do work on their deck on Warren Avenue. The complainant advised they made partial payment to the contractor and have not had any contact with the contractor since.
MAY 12
A vehicle that was reported stolen from Blue Island was recovered at the Circle K Gas Station, 471 Nelson Road. Blue Island Police Department and the owner were contacted. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
MAY 13
The officer was on patrol and conducted a random registration check on a vehicle at Route 30 and I-80. The officer learned that the registration on the vehicle of Dwayne Little, 64, of 2300 block of Melrose Street, Joliet, was suspended and the owner of the vehicle, Little, had a revoked driver’s license. The officer confirmed Little’s driver’s license was revoked. Little had no proof of insurance for the vehicle.
The officer was dispatched to the Metra Station in regard to vandalism. The officer observed a substantial amount of graffiti done to the station and to construction equipment in the area. An investigation led to the arrest of the offender, Kevin B. Carter, 38, of 200 block of Locust Lane, New Lenox on May 14. Carter was charged with one felony count of Criminal Defacement of Property and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
