Manhattan Man Steals Ambulance From Silver Cross Hospital, Takes Ride to Pal's House: Officials
The alleged ambulance thief was taken from his friend's house to the county jail.

A Manhattan man allegedly stole an ambulance after he got out of Silver Cross Hospital early Sunday and drove it over to a buddy’s place in New Lenox.
Ross Anthony Crampton, 30, went to the hospital early Sunday morning and was released from care about 5 a.m., said New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann. Crampton was reportedly hospitalized in connection with an unspecified incident that occurred in Manhattan. Crampton reportedly lives in Manhattan but jail records list his hometown as Tinely Park.
Crampton apparently did not have anyone to pick him up from the hospital so he allegedly went ahead and stole a Kurtz ambulance.

The ambulance was equipped with a GPS and the New Lenox police were able to track it to Locust Street, Baldermann said. The officers reportedly located it outside the home of one of Crampton’s acquaintances.
Crampton was reportedly “agitated or panicked,” and his acquaintance was alarmed by his behavior. The police found Crampton standing outside the house, Baldermann said.
