NEW LENOX, IL — The upcoming election is less than three weeks away, and early voting has already started. In New Lenox, one of the contested local races is the race for village trustee. Madsen has been a resident of New Lenox for 24 years, and he has four children and two grandchildren. He works as a Field Inspection Coordinator for Metra.

He believes the most pressing issue facing the board is remaining fiscally responsible and keeping taxes in balance.

"We need to work closely with our other taxing bodies such as schools, parks, library, and fire protection, to ensure we are collectively working together to improve amenities and service levels," Madsen said.

He said he will also continue to work hard to "encourage economic growth in a progressive, yet responsible matter."

"The village needs to continue to attract and promote new commercial and industrial growth in addition to supporting retail businesses. These types of developments create jobs for our residents, support our need for new and improved road infrastructure, and provide tax revenue thereby alleviating some of the tax burden on homeowners," Madsen said.

He added that another thing he believes the village needs to continue to improve is aging infrastructure, including repairing and improving streets.

"I strongly feel New Lenox is the ideal place to live, work and raise a family. I moved here 24 years ago with my family for a better way of life," Madsen said. "I believe I share the community's vision to grow in a progressive, yet responsible manner. I have the community's best interests at heart."

There are three open positions on the New Lenox village board in the April 2 election. The other candidates are incumbents David Butterfield and Doug Finnegan and newcomer Brian O'Leary.
